Member Service Representative

Major Duties:

Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, processes the daily Member Services (non-teller) activities and performs a broad-range of member services activities in person and/or via phone, mail, e-mail, fax and on-line services. Provides such member services as opening new accounts, ordering checks, ATM maintenance, corrections, etc. Takes loan applications, interviews for pertinent loan information, and prepares necessary paperwork to disburse loans. Cross-sells CU products and services. Responds to questions and/or provides information upon request from members (internal and external). Processes requests/transactions, as appropriate. Assists members and potential members in understanding and utilizing Credit Union products and services.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (GED). AA degree in related are preferred. Additional experience may be substituted for a degree. Minimum 2 to 4 years previous MSR and/or Lending and sales experience in a financial institution. Demonstrated knowledge of CU products, services and policies and procedures and regulations. Previous telephone sales experience and ability to meet pre-established sales goals. Must possess a strong service orientation. Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills. PC proficient including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the Internet. Extensive telephone work involved. Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Travel between the Washington DC branch and Reston branch required.
